Insect killers with IP65 marking certainly deserve special attention. The main reason is the guaranteed high dust and moisture resistance. This makes it suitable for particularly demanding companies, such as Food processing companies (observe HACCP conformity), (commercial) kitchens or stables and other animal husbandry rooms.
First, let’s explain what exactly the IP65 designation means. The protection class IP65 is a classification according to the international standard IEC 60529 (DIN EN 60529), which describes the degree of protection of housings against the ingress of foreign bodies and water.
IP stands for Ingress Protection. The code 65 consists of two digits:
Devices with IP65 protection are therefore ideal for use in harsh environments where they may be exposed to dust, dirt, and moisture.
It is important to note that IP65 does not mean a device is waterproof. Devices with this type of protection can be submerged underwater for a short time, but should not be used permanently in water.
Protection class IP65 could be explained by the fact that such an insect killer is suitable for outdoor use. For example, to make sitting on the terrace or balcony more pleasant without the presence of annoying insects. Of course, it is important to consider the laws of the country in which you want to use the insect killer.
The use of insect killers outdoors is generally not permitted in Germany. However, there are some exceptions, e.g. for natural-based insect killers or for combating certain types of insects. Before using an insect killer outdoors, find out about the applicable regulations and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
