Effective solutions for all insect problems

Automatic spray systems dispense a small amount of insecticide at programmable intervals, creating a barrier against insects.

Glueboard insect killers attract insects using light and UV radiation. Once the insects enter the trap, they are killed by an electric grid and then fall onto a glueboard.

Electric grid insect killers attract insects using light and UV radiation. Once the insects touch the grid, an electric shock kills them.

Fan insect killers allow for targeted use. The insect killer attracts insects using light and UV radiation. A fan then sucks the insects into a container.

Insect killers with IP65 protection are dustproof and protected against water jets. They are therefore ideal for use in humid and dusty environments, such as in the food industry or in agriculture.

The adhesive films are important and indispensable spare parts for most electric and UV insect killers. They have to be exchanged approximately once per month.

UV lamps emit ultraviolet light, which is visible to insects but not to humans. The UV light attracts insects and lures them near the trap. (Replace every year or so)

Insect sprays with pyrethrum use a natural active ingredient from chrysanthemum flowers to fight insects. Pyrethrum works quickly and effectively against flies, mosquitoes, moths, and other flying insects.

How insect killers work and useful tips:

How do electric insect killers work?

Electric insect killers use ultraviolet light tubes to attract insects. The insects then either fly into an electric grid, where they are killed by an electric shock, or onto sticky boards, where they get stuck. There are also systems where insects are attracted by UV light and then killed by a fan (fan insect killers).

The UV tubes emit light with a wavelength of 350 to 368 nm. This light is very attractive to insects and lures them into the lethal area. The UV radiation is comparable to that of the sun, to which flies have a natural attraction as a source of heat.

In addition, there are also solutions based on spray technology: insect spray dispensers (insecticide).

Which one do I need for my case?

Choosing the right insect killer is fundamental to successfully protecting your surroundings from insects. Each insect killer has a specified range of effectiveness based on the UV radiation intensity, the requirements, and the design of the device. Electric insect traps are generally used in insensitive areas with a high insect population, while insect traps with adhesive foils are designed for sensitive areas such as food preparation. “Front of house” and domestic areas often use decorative solutions that are discreet yet highly effective. In commercial areas, insect killers should be supported by preventive protective barriers such as fly screens and insecticides. To help you decide, you can also use the product selection in the insect killer online shop on our hygiene-shop.eu homepage.

Where to place your insect trap?

The light emitted by the UV tubes attracts insects to the area that is fatal to them, so it is important to place the insect killer so that the UV light is perceived from all over the room. Ideally, the insect killers should be mounted at a height of about 2 m above the ground to ensure optimum radiation. Place the devices opposite natural light sources such as windows and doors. The insect killer should be visible from anywhere in the room to be protected, so the devices must be installed so that they are not obstructed by columns, beams or other obstacles. In particularly complex or large rooms, two or more devices may need to be installed to provide optimum protection for the room.

Why isn’t my insect killer catching any insects?

Electric insect killers require maintenance to function optimally. The UV tubes have an effective lifespan of 8000 hours and should therefore be replaced once a year, ideally before the summer season. The power grid can be checked for voltage using a specially insulated electrical screwdriver.

Insect killers with adhesive foils also use UV light to attract insects, but the insects fly onto an adhesive surface and stick there. This type of insect control is therefore quiet and discreet. The adhesive foils can then be checked for effectiveness and otherwise disposed of immediately. The quality of the adhesive foils is essential for effective insect control. Insect traps with adhesive foils are supplied with GLUPAC adhesive foils. These adhesive foils are, in addition to their improved UV-resistant adhesive, soaked in pheromones to make them even more attractive to insects. The adhesive surfaces have an effective lifespan of 30 days, which is why the foils should be replaced once a month.
